What causes this fever in children?

Fever happens when the body’s temperature raises high, indicating the body is fighting infections and illness internally. Sometimes, a 101.2°F fever in toddlers happens because their body still doesn’t get used to a hot environment, so they won’t be able to regulate body’s temperature. In some cases, your kids can also get a fever after they got vaccinated.

How to check if your children get a fever?

Checking on whether your children have a fever is quite easy. Just place your hand on their forehead and feel the temperature. However, this won’t give an accurate indication. That’s why you need to check the temperature by using a digital thermometer. Place it on their mouth or armpit, and see their temperature.

When is it getting serious?

For children with a 101.2°F fever, there’s no need to give them treatment if they have normal skin tone and still interested in playing and eating. Don’t need to worry if they don’t want to eat because this is a very usual condition as long as they still drink and urinate regularly. However, when your children show difficulty in breathing, have a skin rash, and the temperature raises high, it is best to seek medical help immediately.

How to treat children with fever?

Do not be panic if your kids don’t show a severe change in behaviors. You can make sure their room has a comfortable temperature in a way that doesn’t too hot or too cold. Cover them using a light sheet that’s not cause the temperature to raise more. Let them eat what they want in reasonable amounts, and don’t force them if they don’t want to eat.

The most important thing to treat them is you have to take it easy, don’t get panic easily, and make sure they get plenty of rest. Even though children with a 101.2°F fever don’t indicate something serious, but it’s best if you monitor their behavior. If the fever gets worse, seek a doctor immediately.
